Geometric Cowl Recipe

The Geometric Cowl Recipe has several components that you can choose to combine in order to create a unique piece every time you use this pattern.

The possibilities are endless - yarn choice (color-changing, solids, heathers) and color contrast, multicolored or solid ribbing, to braid or no braid, mirrored or continuous colorwork triangles…

Materials:
Size US4, 24” circular needles
2 colors of fingering weight yarn – approximately 275-400 yards in each color.
1 Stitch Marker

Gauge:
16 sts = 2” in Stockinette Colorwork

Inyo Cowl

With an inner tube-like construction, and an amazingly luscious hand dyed alpaca yarn, the Inyo Cowl should definitely be on your “must knit” list this fall.

The lofty halo from this beautiful yarn gives depth to even the simplest of stitches; Stockinette knit in the round flies off your needles.

2 skeins Anzula Inyo: 100% Huacaya Alpaca; 100 yards/skein (shown in Grace)

City Lights Cowl

The City Lights Cowl is extremely simple in structure – it’s the yarn that makes it spectacular.

Combining a strand of hand dyed MCN with a strand of sparkly mohair makes for a luxurious, dressed up cowl that sparkles in the sun and under city lights.  

Materials:
Size US 8, 16” or 20” circular needles
Larger needle for bind off (US 10.5 used with sample)
1 skein Zen Yarn Garden Serenity DK (shown in grapestone)
1 ball Rowan Kidsilk Night (shown in color #614)
1 Stitch Marker

8 sts and 12 rows / 2” in stockinette stitch, holding one strand of each yarn

Indigo Swan Cowl

The Indigo Swan Cowl could not be easier. Or quicker. A mistake rib and semi-solid yarn make the stitches come alive. A simple two round repeat, chunky weight yarn, and large needles equal a fast weekend project. Perfectly suited to all types of knitting…for gifts…on raining afternoons…you get the idea.

Make one for a friend, boy or girl, and make one for yourself too.

Materials:
Size US 9, 16 or 24” circular needles
1 skein Swans Island Colors Bulky, shown in Indigo (Or approximately 130 yards of chunky/bulky weight yarn)
1 Stitch Marker

Striper Cowl

The Striper Cowl is simple in nature. A stripe pattern worked in garter stitch becomes brilliant when knit up with a color-transforming yarn, like Noro Taiyo Sock. Knit this project in your sleep. Wear it with everything.

Materials:

  • Size US 6 needles – straights and 24” or 32” circulars (Circulars required, straights optional)
  • Spare needle for 3 needle bind off
  • Main Color: 1 skein MadelineTosh Tosh Merino Light, shown in Twig (Or approximately 420 yards of fingering weight solid or semi-solid yarn)
  • Contrast Color: 1 skein Noro Taiyo Sock, shown in #5. (Or, approximately 400 yards of fingering color-transforming or variegated yarn)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

Gauge (unblocked):  10.5 sts / 2” in garter stitch

Finished Measurements (unblocked): 31” circumference, 15” height
