New Pattern: Gray Matter Cowl

I wrote up a quick new pattern in celebration of fall for Lynn at Knit 1 using large needles and Skacel Tee Cakes yarn. Lynn was sweet enough to take the photo above, showing the ginormous stitches in high definition against a small burst of color that is one of the first leaves to fall this season.

The pattern is available for free at Knit 1 with the purchase of Tee Cakes yarn.

Speaking of Knit 1, the shop is in the full swing of things this fall--and last night I attended a special event featuring Cirilia Rose, designer dujour and creative director for Skacel.

In town for Vogue Knitting Live, Cirilia stopped by the shop for a quick Q&A, where she dished about Skacel, design inspiration, color theory, her upcoming book and The Fiber Factor.

An awesome night! If you're not familiar with Cirilia, you should definitely check out her amazing designs on Ravelry and look forward to owning a copy of her new book when it comes out--because it is truly special and lovely.

Pattern Preview: Syren Scarf

The Syren Scarf is a fun little project I whipped up in celebration of The Wool Dispensary's first year anniversary.

Just one year ago, The Wool Dispensary raised money via Kickstarter to launch a specially curated line of colorful kettle dyed yarns at Chicago's YarnCon event. It was a great success.

This pretty pattern will be available via Doodlebug Yarn, an online shop that carries the yarn featured: The Wool Dispensary's Useful Poison.

looking for testers - mogul cowl & infiniti scarf

well, it looks as though i successfully completed 3-4 days of the knitting blog week! the balance of my week got crazy with work and errands, so i was a naughty blogger and i did not post - oopps!

today i'm sharing with you a preview of one of my new patterns - the mogul cowl & infiniti scarf. the pattern includes instructions on how to create a close-fitting cowl and a long infiniti scarf you can wear in many ways - wrapped around the neck loosely or swirled around a few times, or as a hooded cowl.

i'm currently looking for test knitters to knit both the small and large versions. the small version uses about 200 yards of heavy worsted/chunky weight yarn. the large version uses about 400 yards of light worsted weight yarn.

if you are interested in testing, please PM me on Ravelry. details for testers are available in the BreeanElyse group on Ravelry.
