This quick and simple cowl pattern is now available at Doodlebug Yarn, where it will be sold exclusively through the end of March 2012. Then I'll have it for sale via my Ravelry pattern shop.
This beauty is knit up using Malabrigo Arroyo. Small and large sizes require 1 or 2 skeins, respectively.
Simple 2x2 ribbing and an easily memorized slipped stitch pattern make for a quick and portable project.
Any heavy sport or dk weight yarn would do well, such as Malabrigo Arroyo, The Wool Dispensary Useful Restorative, or Madelinetosh Tosk DK.
If you read my blog, then you know that I recently release the Hot Child in the City collection, which was part of Malabrigo's Freelance Pattern Project.
I also teamed up with Doodlebug Yarns to offer a giveaway via their blog: 2 skeins of Arroyo in your choice of in-stock colors + 1 free PDF copy of the Tribune Scarf & Wrap pattern!
Check out the sweet interview I did with owner Gayla over on DB Yarns blog.
How can you win? Simply leave a comment over on the Doodlebug Yarns blog post sharing your favorite Malabrigo yarn or pattern from Hot Child in the City – be sure to leave some way for them to contact you in case you’re selected as our winner (i.e., Ravelry ID).
They will randomly select 1 winner to be announce on our next blog post January 27th.
And if that wasn't awesome news enough, now through the end of January, you can get 15% off the Hot Child in the City individual patterns (or entire collection) by entering MFPPJan during checkout.
Full disclosure: I've been a naughty Knitting & Crochet Blog Week participant! Having not posted this yesterday, I am going to post twice today to make up for it! :)

My design samples for Malabrigo Book Three have amassed more miles than I have!
Their journey began in Uruguay as wool on sheep, then they journeyed to the mill where they were processed and skeined. The skeins then traveled to the folks at Malabrigo, where they were lovingly kettle dyed to perfection.
Then the yarns were shipped to me in Chicago, and I wound them into balls, swatched with them, created my designs, and finally, knit them into the samples seen in Book Three.
The finished samples then made their way to California along with the patterns for some tech editing.
Gwen, the tech editor, then sent the samples back to Uruguay, where they were styled and photographed for the book.
Soon the samples will be shipped around the world, making their way to yarn shops for trunk shows, and to events like Stitches and TNNA.
These samples have traveled more than me! I've only visited California once - and I don't even have a passport!
It does make me happy that so many people will get to see and touch the actual pieces from the book, which were lovingly handknit by me in my tiny Chicago apartment.
i really enjoy discovering the beautiful finished pieces knit from my patterns. today i'm sharing Rose's (h82purl on Ravelry) Rasta Neckwarmer.
her version is knit using Malabrigo Rasta in Piedras (the same colorway as the piece from Book 3). isn't her photography great? she really captured the beautiful essence of the yarn.
and great buttons! this makes me ready for springtime, sunshine and flowers :)
