like any ravelry designer (...assumption coming...) i like to stalk my pattern projects to see the wonderous FOs crafted by lovely knitters everywhere. it's always fantastic to discover a project that has quirky details or takes a unique spin on my designs.

© amiijjang like this gorgeous piece knit by amiijjang, a raveler that has countless beautiful projects in her portfolio. i'm so pleased with the way the madelinetosh merino yarn (colorway is glazed pecan) she chose to knit with plays among the pattern details without overwhelming the texture.

French Braid Cowl Knit-Along (KAL)

I thought it would be great to start a KAL for the French Braid Cowl because it seems to be the most popular pattern from the new City Cables Collection.

French Braid Cowl Pattern

The French Braid Cowl Pattern is now available for purchase.

This wrapped cowl takes approximately 420-450 yards of worsted weight yarn. Pictured in various yarns from Malabrigo - Merino Worsted, Rios and Twist.

Other Materials:
US 9 straight needles - or size to get appropriate gauge
Cable needle
4 1/2”-1” buttons
Tapestry Needle

The pattern is written and does not include a chart. The cable pattern is a simple 16 row repeat, with only 2 twists per repeat.

Pattern Preview - French Braid Cowl

The French Braid Cowl will be one pattern of a collection that I'm releasing just in time for Malabrigo March. The patterns will be available for individual purchase, as well as bundled together as an e-book.

A few of the patterns for this collection are currently being test knit by a bevy of awesome knitters. You can track their progress in the test knitting thread of the BreeanElyse group on Ravelry.

I have long admired Elaine's projects (yarnsnob on Ravelry), and thought she might like my new designs, so I sent her a message on Ravelry asking if she'd like to be a tester. To my amazement, she agreed and speedily went to work this past weekend - and is now over the halfway point in finishing her French Braid Cowl project!

She's also posted some beautiful pictures of her WIP on her blog - GORGEOUS. Thanks Elaine!
