New Pattern: Striper Cowl & Summer Stack Subscription

New Pattern! New Pattern! New Pattern!!

Introducing....the Striper Cowl.

The Striper Cowl is simple in nature. A stripe pattern worked in garter stitch becomes brilliant when knit up with a color-transforming yarn, like Noro Taiyo Sock.

Knit this project in your sleep. Wear it with everything.

This pattern is available individually or as part of Summer Stack, an e-book subscription of 8+ cowls & hats.

399 Projects - a featured FO: michelle8601's Rasta Neckwarmer

Since the launch of Malabrigo Book Three back in January 2011, there have been a flurry of projects on Ravelry for the Rasta Neckwarmer pattern

With the project tally lurching toward 400 projects (399 as of today!), I figured it would be appropriate to feature one of the lovely neckwarmer FOs.

This version, lovingly crafted by michelle8601, uses Malabrigo Rasta in Indiecita (#416).

Indiecita is a stunning colorway that fuses sea glass-esque colors: blue, teal, green, indigo, and sometimes the slightest hint of ochre.
As you can see from the finished Rasta Neckwarmer, this colorway just shines when worked up in a simple stitch pattern.
I love the contrasting coconut shell buttons Michelle used for her project (Purchased from Stonemountain and Daughter Fabric).

Featured FO: Neck Truffles!!

The neck truffle was one of my very first patterns. It originated when I was working at a lovely LYS in Chicago called Nina.

Inspiration came from blustery winter days and an instinctual need to knit with the bulkiest, warmest yarns in sight.

An interesting way to transform the simplest-shape-to-knit rectangle is to attach the bind off edge to the side edge, creating an asymmetrical piece that can be worn inside a winter coat, or used as a snuggly office neck warmer.

Seeing the variations people have created on Ravelry has been a delight - with over 250 projects, I've discovered solid and rainbow, multicolored versions, as well as truffles laced with ribbons and fastened with buttons and toggles!

Today's featured FOs are lovely examples of how different the neck truffles can be styled. First, a simply beautiful version from ThatKnitChick (Jenn).

(C) ThatKnitChickJenn used Malabrigo Rasta in Archangel and simply seamed the bind off edge to the side of her finished rectangle. Viola! A classic, unfussy variation on the original pattern. I love it!

Next, we have a few truffles knit up by pnason (Patty).

(C) pnasonWhat great photos - look at the color variation and stitch definition Patty got using Malabrigo Rasta in Porrinho. Gorgeous! The pink ribbon on this version makes it very sweet ;)

(C) pnasonPatty also worked up a teal version of the neck truffle using Malabrigo Rasta in Teal Feather.

(C) pnasonI really like the size of this FO - it's got a nice large, slouchy quality to it.

(C) pnasonMany thanks to Jenn and Patty for letting me using their beautiful images!

Featured FO: pixiesmom's bluebird scarf

One of my first free patterns - the bluebird scarf - has some lovely finished projects over on Ravelry.

Today's featured FO is by pixiesmom. She used Joey's Baby Silk yarn from Queensland Collection - a fingering weight wool/silk/bamboo blend in a cheery robin's egg blue color.

The scarf looks lovely in this colorway! It maintains a nice stitch definition with this yarn but looks nice and drapey at the same time.

Beautiful job pixiesmom! Thanks for letting me share.
